Day1 ARRIVE HOKKAIDO
Day2 NABORIBETSU JIGOKUDANI→SHOWA SHINZAN→HAKODATE
Noboribetsu Jigokudani: A natural scenic spot in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, this geothermal area was formed by active volcanic activity. As its name suggests, Jigokudani offers a unique sight of geothermal heat and hot springs erupting, with the smell of sulfur and steam rising from the ground.
Showa Shinzan: Showa Shinzan is an active volcano located near Mount Usu in Hokkaido and was created by an eruption in 1946. The mountain is known as a tourist attraction due to its steep shape and beautiful scenery. The mountain’s elevation is about 400 meters and, along with the surrounding nature, attracts many visitors. There is an observatory and walking trail near Showa Shinzan, and from the top of the mountain, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of Lake Toya and the surrounding area. There are also hot spring baths nearby, allowing visitors to combine sightseeing with relaxation.
Mount Hakodate: Hakodate is a 334-meter-high mountain in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, known for its spectacular views. The summit commands a panoramic view of the city of Hakodate, the Tsugaru Straits, and the nightscape, and the nightscape in particular is reputed to be one of the “Three Greatest Nightscapes of Japan. The summit is easily accessible by ropeway or car, making it easy to enjoy the spectacular view.
Day3 HAKODATE→OTARU
Goryokaku: Located in Hakodate, Hokkaido, this star-shaped pentagonal fortress was built at the end of the Edo period. completed in 1864, the fortress was an example of the latest Western-style castle architecture of the time and was the scene of the Battle of Hakodate. Goryokaku is maintained as a park, with spacious lawns and beautiful cherry trees. Especially in spring, when the cherry trees are in full bloom, the area attracts many tourists. Goryokaku Tower is also popular as a great photo spot, offering a panoramic view of the entire star-shaped area.
Kanamori Red Brick Warehouses: Kanamori Red Brick Warehouses are a group of historical warehouses located in Hakodate, Hokkaido, and were constructed in the Meiji era. Once used for trade and storage of goods, these red brick buildings are an important cultural asset that reminds us of Hakodate’s history. The Kanamori Red Brick Warehouses have been revitalized as a tourist attraction and are lined with stores, cafes, and restaurants. Visitors can purchase local specialties and souvenirs, as well as enjoy meals and sweets. The location facing the sea also offers beautiful views, making it an ideal place for a stroll.
Otaru Canal: This historic canal in Otaru, Hokkaido, was constructed during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The 1.1-kilometer-long canal once played an important role in the transportation of goods and commerce as the center of a prosperous port town. Along the canal, nostalgic stone warehouses and gas lamps stand side by side, retaining the atmosphere of those days. A walking trail has been developed, allowing tourists to leisurely stroll along the canal and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Especially at dusk, the gas lamps are illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere.
Day4 OTARU→ASAHIYAMA ZOO→BIE
Otaru Music Box Store: A store specializing in music boxes in a building built in the Meiji period. The retro atmosphere of the store is filled with about 80,000 music boxes collected from all over the world. The designs and materials vary widely, including jewelry boxes, stuffed animals, wall hangings, ceramics, etc. The light dome music box, which changes color in three different ways, is particularly popular.
Kitaichi Glass Building No. 3: Located in Otaru City, Hokkaido, this glass art facility was built in 1930. Beautiful glassware is on display and for sale, and visitors can observe the craftsmanship and creative process up close. The museum offers a wide variety of glassware, especially Otaru’s famous glassworks and many items that make great souvenirs. Day5 FUNARA→SAPPORO
Furano Fom: This sightseeing farm is located in Furano City, Hokkaido, where visitors can enjoy beautiful flower fields and farm products. It is especially famous for its lavender fields, which attract many tourists in summer with their colorful flowers. In addition to enjoying lavender and a variety of other flowers, visitors can also take part in programs that allow them to experience harvesting and farming. Day6 SAPPORO CITY TOUR
